Mandalorian Busts
For this assignment, we were tasked with taking two portraits and making them artistic and vector. For the purpose of this project, I chose to do busts of Din Djarin and the Armorer from Disney’s The Mandalorian. The complex part of this project I wanted to embrace was the blocking out of the different colors and planes of their armor, while trying to find the right balance of that. What I learned from this project was how to illustrate folds in clothing as well as learning how to create texture in the Armorer’s fur cowl. Color theory took a huge hit with this as well - trying to figure out how to hatch hues for shading as well as making highlights appear not washed-out. I also took a shot at something akin to cell shading with this as well - trying to break up and block out the various colors as trying to blend the blocks with each other. For as long as this took, I think it turned out nice and captured the armoire aesthetic I was going for with it.
